I feel as if I should admit to the fact that I do most of my shopping at Sephora in December. Aside from that, I usually only shop there 3 or 4 times throughout the rest of the year...but can you blame me? I really don't need any more make-up than I already have, and they release the most amazing gift sets near Christmas....
...so I had to pick up a few things for my friends. I've been really into skincare this year, so I went more for that over make-up, and I found that this year's sets were such a great value.
As you can guess....these two bags aren't cheap at all, but I don't know anyone that doesn't love Lindt, so I don't mind spending a bit more for quality chocolate ;A; The outlet store does have a lot of great deals on Christmas products during December, so if you'd prefer to do that instead of getting a grab bag (which never go on sale), I'd opt for that instead.
Sorry for making you sit through yet another long & blabby post. I've still got a few more Christmas gift posts to push out, I'm afraid!
...so I had to pick up a few things for my friends. I've been really into skincare this year, so I went more for that over make-up, and I found that this year's sets were such a great value.
The 'Bottle Service' nail polish set contains 10 mini polishes from Sephora's Formula X line, and I really just purchased it cuz I thought the packaging was way too cute for words, haha. Next, we have Etat Libre's perfume sampler, which is only available online. I've not tried any of their perfumes before, but I heard they're quite unique, and I had to buy it since it contains a perfume named 'Jasmin et Cigarette', and I'm planning on gifting this to my friend named Jasmin! The Origins mask set is the perfect example of a great value set. Although the masks included are the 1 oz sized ones, I myself own the same Charcoal mask (which works wonders, by the way), and it's lasted me well over a year. One of those costs $21 anyway, so to get 3 for $26...amazing! Nothing much to say about L'Occitane's Almond Shower Oil- I do love their products and it smells amazing.
I also picked up NUDE Skincare's 'Triple Skin Rescue' kit- I've heard some wonderful things about their products but have never tried them myself. One of the employees there let me test out the Cleansing Jelly, which reminded me a bit like Vaseline- not drying at all. I'm planning on using these as a nicer sort of stocking stuffer as I think I may keep the Fizzy Powder Wash for myself since it'll be absolutely perfect to take with me on vacation!
Admittedly, one of the main reasons I placed an order online is because of this:
Here's what I love: the packaging of the full-sized perfume. The stunning emerald green colour. The keychain.
Here's what I don't love: the perfume itself. Given the campaign, I expected it to be musky and ~*seductive*~, which isn't surprising when you see it contains vetiver, papyrus woods & liquid amber. However, what shines through and lingers (at least on my skin), is the floral notes, which actually become cloyingly sweet, giving me quite a headache. Even when it's toned down a bit after a few hours, I still can't handle it. Ah well. It's a pretty vial that'll look great on my dresser.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On to my small haul from Lush! I watch a lot of Lush haul vids, but have only shopped there 3 times ever, so stepping into the store is always quite overwhelming for me. I won't go into my whole experience, but I knew I wanted to pick out a lot of this year's Christmas offerings as gifts.
My purchase total was about $41 or so? I really was only planning on getting 2 or 3 things but....I got a bit carried away. A lot of the scents were way too heavy for me, so I tried to go solely for the clean/fresh + soothing scents. Shower jellies look really fun, and I was surprised at how good they felt on my skin, so I went for one of those. The Santa Claus bubble bar smells DELICIOUS (strawberries, mmmm), and the other two bath bombs were the clean/soothing scents I mentioned- perfect for a nighttime bath before bed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, the reason I buy so many stocking stuffers is because I like putting together gift bags/boxes (more on this in another post) as opposed to one sole gift, unless I know there's one specific thing that a friend wants. I headed to Aberdeen to see if I could find any little things that would do the trick!
I really love planners- I certainly can't live without mine, and I'm constantly telling my friends to purchase their own...so I picked up a few. The Korean ones always have the cutest designs, and best of all, they're SMALL- you can easily fit them in your purse or clutch.
how adorable are these??? |
From T&T, I got these animal paper masks. I've always preferred cream masks, but a lot of my friends love paper masks, and it's so easy to shove a few into a gift bag.
This seems a bit silly, but I picked up these little felting kits from Daiso. I've never tried it myself, though I have watched numerous tutorials, and the animals they've made have always been so cute (I can't stop describing everything as ~*so cute*~...sorry!), but I don't think I have the patience for it yet. I got the Snowman one for the same friend that'll be receiving the Snowman shower jelly, haha.
Lastly, from the Lindt outlet store...I of course had to pick up some chocolate!
Sorry for making you sit through yet another long & blabby post. I've still got a few more Christmas gift posts to push out, I'm afraid!

For those that are frantically looking for last-minute gifts, or just stuck in a rut in terms of gift ideas, I've compiled a small list of things I really like from Anthropologie which will hopefully be helpful!
Ever since they opened up an Anthro here in Vancouver, it's been a downhill battle for me to try and stay away. I can't really afford their clothing, but I find myself returning constantly for house & home items, accessories, & gifts. This...is going to be a long post.

I won't deny that my motivation for buying most of these products was based initially on cute packaging alone... |

Coconut Milk Mango & Thai Lily @ $14 each |
Another perfume I picked up is from Royal Apothic's Conservatory collection:
While we're on the topic of Royal Apothic's products....
...all kinds of cute & soothing products for your lips! Their Balmie lip conditioner is $10, the Scrubbie lip scrub is $12, and the Tinties lip butter is $14. Honestly, the packaging is just to die for, isn't it?!
Hand cream! Everyone needs this stuff, let's be real. I'm ashamed to say it took me a very long time to realize that lotions frankly did nothing for my skin past an hour of application, and to just purchase creams instead. Lollia is one of my favourite brands- these mini tubes are so handy and I like having one in all my purses at all times. (As you can see, the sugared pastille one is my own, just for comparison.) These minis are $10.
If you refer back to the collective picture I posted in the beginning, I also bought a lotion from Illume in the scent 'Golden Amber.' I find it to be quite musky & warm- definitely for someone who likes more heavy, masculine scents. It was on sale for only $7.95!
✩ HOUSE & HOME ✩
I don't really have any pictures of Anthropologie's candles, so I'll just have to take them off the website, hehe. However, I thought I'd list a few of my favourites anyway! This may be a controversial statement, but I think Bath & Body Works' candles are slightly overrated *gasp*. I went in once they started stocking this year's holiday candles, and I honestly didn't like a single one...but this wasn't the case with Anthropologie's!!!! (and they come in such cute tins/jars~) Here are my favourites:
- Illume's Boulangerie Jar in Angel Food ($16)
- Illume's Spring's Eden Candle Tin in Coconut Milk Mango ($18)
- Illume's Tin Type Candle in Toasted Hazelnut ($18)
- Royal Apothic's Conservatory Collection Candle in Noble Carnation ($26)
Sadly, it's been discontinued now, but this Cherry Almond Cake soy candle from Illume literally used to make my mouth water- that's how amazing it smelled.
I mean, just look at this adorable sugar bowl/creamer set. I can't handle it!!!!

I can't find this on the Canadian website, but they're $14 each! |
✩ BOOKS/PAPER GOODS
As for books.....here's something I fell in love with the minute I saw them in store- a collaboration between Rifle Paper Co. (as if I haven't gushed enough about them, haha) & Penguin Publishing.
*sighs dreamily* aren't they exquisite?! I've always been an avid collector of classic literature, and Penguin is constantly taunting me by releasing all these wonderfully designed book covers!! *____* These are about $18 CAD, I think? I've added them all to my wishlist.
If you're wanting to spend a bit more for someone special who's also a sweet tooth, the one and only Ladurée have two recipe books- Ladurée : The Sweet Recipes & Ladurée Chocolate.
That's all I'll get into for now- if you've gotten this far in to the post, thank you so much for reading! Best of luck with your gift shopping, and have a very merry Christmas! ♪ ♬ ヾ(´︶`♡)ノ ♬ ♪

Can you believe it- Christmas is just 12 days away! I've mostly finished my Christmas shopping, but am still constantly on the lookout for more small gifts (I have a shopping problem...I think that much is obvious, haha.) I haven't been in Chapters in a few months now, so I decided to stop by to see what new things they have in store! I know in the past few years they've really stepped up their game in terms of home decor items & of course various other gifts that aren't just reading material. I was particularly interested in their stationery section-
How cute is all of this?! The larger pencil bags above that say 'hello' are on sale for $9, and the long ones below that with the stripes (bonjour~)/bow are on sale for $6. I don't really need more pencil bags....but these are all my favourite patterns! My friends always joke that the minute a bow is placed on something, I will instantly be drawn to it right away...and it's true :( The same goes for anything striped- I'm honestly very tempted to buy that one for my trip to France.
[Off topic: do you notice something hiding in the back of that second picture?
I also really like the huge journal with the Emily Dickinson quote- it's very simple, but it's a good size & is lined inside, so it'd be a useful gift for any student! I genuinely love taking notes, so every term I go looking for cute new notebooks.
Speaking of journals/notebooks- at about $30, I personally think Moleskines are a great gift for anyone you know that constantly has too many thoughts in their head, haha. I own both a pocket sized one and a large one. Pocket sized for daily thoughts/doodles, etc. and the large one I take with me every time I go on vacation for journaling purposes. (This was before they came out with the Voyageur Travellers notebook- I think I'll pick this up when I eventually fill up my current one!)
One area that I constantly check at Chapters ever since they started carrying the brand....would definitely have to be Kate Spade. Super girly, yet still professional & not over the top; everything they release is always right up my alley. Also for $30, their stylish planners are a must have! I know I wouldn't be able to live without my planner- sure, you can have your schedule in your phone, but I find it much more helpful to write it all down....not to mention all the to-do lists that I come up with daily. I would definitely encourage y'all to check out everything else they're offering- their stationery really is adorable and would all look so chic on your desk!
Finally...here's my pièce de résistance:
their Emma Pencil Pouch Set- inspired by Jane Austen's Emma, of course. On the back is a quote from the book, and inside, it includes an eraser, a sharpener, two pencils, and a ruler. The minute I saw this, I knew I needed it- I swear to you I've put it down on my wishlist already...and honestly, I think it's a great deal for $28. I've definitely even considered using this as a clutch...à la Olympia Le-Tan, whose book clutches are all the rage- literature is fashionable! [OOPS can I segue into mentioning one of my favourite tumblrs- John Jannuzzi, who used to be the editor for Lucky magazine, combines runway fashion with literary/historical characters. I love it. Check it out if you haven't already!!]
I've rambled enough already, but there are truly so many options at Chapters! Aside from what I've mentioned above, they also carry chocolate/snacks, amazing art (like products from Rifle Paper Co.!!! I'm addicted.), candles & beauty products, jewelry & accessories, etc. etc.....and hey, as a last resort, they even carry books ;)
(books really are an excellent gift btw)

*screams*
Goodness knows I overuse the phrase 'I CAN'T EVEN' numerous times a day (despite it not making any sense to people that aren't familiar with internet slang) but I just...I literally cannot! hehe]
